Hans Zimmer - Why so serious
Naturally, it is always of interest whether a soundbar also provides the necessary capacity for highly dynamic soundtracks and delivers down in the depths of the bass. The simple answer: Yes!
I saw "The Dark Knight" in the cinema back then. An extremely dark Batman film with Heath Ledger's now legendary portrayal of the Joker. He embodies absolute evil and presents Batman with extreme challenges. Heath Ledger posthum received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the role. He had died of a medication overdose shortly after filming.
The soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard weaves the constant, ongoing soundscape typical of Hans Zimmer's work. The dark atmosphere is underscored in several sequences by extremely deep bass.
"Why so serious" begins with one of the Joker's three themes. Here, the tone on a single cello string is continually drawn higher by the Swiss cellist Martin Tillmann. The viewer then knows that something is wrong. This is followed by the Joker's two other themes: a nervous string theme and a theme consisting of electric guitar and drums. The sound goes extremely low at Min. 3:28 and again from 6:14.
Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1957. He is a legend today. Whether it's Gladiator, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar, or Inception. He created the soundtracks for all these blockbusters and many more films. Regarding the Batman trilogy, he says that it feels like one film, but there are 12 years between the first and third part. About the Batman music, he says that sometimes you feel like the visuals and the music fit together perfectly. Here, that was the case.
