You could already read a lot about the new album. Many think it is a departure from musical heights already reached. But a review is probably often just a matter of personal taste. Janelle Monáe hits the mark with me in the song Float. I still own their first record as a CD and had little contact with their musical work after that. With the release of “The Age of Pleasure”, I also got to grips with the previous records, which came across as much more commercial to me. With “The Age of Pleasure”, the musical spectrum changed. Perhaps also because of the experiences she has had in various film projects in recent years. Float raps and sings us light as a feather about how she floats around and doesn’t dance. Clean as a whistle production and backed by the wonderful horn of Egypt 80.
